Benefits of Vinyl Plantation Shutters for Kitchens

Posted on

It can be tricky to choose window coverings for a kitchen, as these rooms are often full of condensation and the window may be near the hot stovetop. Fortunately, an ideal option is provided by vinyl plantation shutters. Here are some benefits of residential plantation shutters.

Perfect for Kitchen Environments

While plantation shutters can use various materials, vinyl models are ideal for the kitchen environment. These rooms are often full of vapour and food odours. Coverings that use fabric, such as curtains and some blinds, absorb moisture and grow mould and mildew. They can also take in kitchen smells that become embedded in the material. On the other hand, vinyl plantation shutters don't absorb smells or moisture. You can install them over the sink, and they won't rot or warp.

Versatile

Residential Plantation Shutters can be constructed to cover diverse windows. They can be fitted to regular or small openings. Additionally, they can cover glass doors and wide, tall windows. If you want to cover a wide area that leads to a patio, for instance, you could install shutters in which the louvres are filled with aluminium or PVC. These reinforced louvres prevent the shutters from sagging or bowing.

You have many options for covering the windows. As well as hinged and bi-fold models, you could install cafe shutters. These shutters cover the lower part of the window to reduce glare and offer privacy. But they let light flow freely inside the top part of the window.

You can also install tiered shutters on glass doors or tall windows that you can operate independently. Close louvres on the bottom tier, for example, and open the slats on the upper component.

Control Outside Connection

Plantation shutters allow you to control the connection between the kitchen and the back garden. You can adjust the louvres to let light stream inside, or angle them to filter and deflect daylight.

You can also fold open-hinged plantation shutters to reveal large, expansive windows or doors, freeing up the connection to nature. You can also securely close plantation shutters. Because they're built into the window frame, they become part of the architecture and create the sense of a textured wall. Thus, you can take advantage of large windows, or else hide them and create a cosy indoor environment.

Other window coverings aren't as versatile. They always feel like window coverings rather than architectural elements. So you can't create the same sense of cosiness and hide the windows. Additionally, with some window coverings, you can't open them as freely as you can with hinged or bifold shutters.
